Our high school recently hosted its first-ever “Student Wellness Day,” and it was an incredible success! The event was designed to promote mental health, relaxation, and overall well-being for both students and staff.

To kick off the celebration, every participant received a custom “Wellness Day” t-shirt along with a nylon drawstring backpack filled with thoughtful goodies, including hygiene products, bottled water, and a variety of healthy snacks.

To accommodate all students, we divided the high school into two groups. Half of the students attended on Tuesday, while the other half participated on Wednesday. On both days, we traveled to the Cape May County Zoo, where we had two reserved pavilions set up for activities, socializing, and fun.

At the pavilions, students had access to a range of engaging activities, including:
🎯 Cornhole boards for some friendly competition
🎨 Face painting to express their creativity
🖍 Sidewalk chalk for artistic expression
🎶 Music to set a lively and relaxing atmosphere
🫧 Giant bubbles that amazed students and staff alike
✈️ Styrofoam airplanes that performed fun tricks
🐔 Rubber chicken toss game for laughs and entertainment
🔎 Scavenger hunts to encourage teamwork and exploration

The students had an absolute blast participating in these activities, and after enjoying a delicious lunch outdoors, they set off to explore the zoo, taking in all the incredible animals and exhibits. From playful monkeys to majestic lions, there was something for everyone to marvel at.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. The feedback from both students and staff was overwhelmingly positive—many expressed how much they appreciated the opportunity to step away from the usual school routine and focus on wellness, connection, and fun.

It was truly heartwarming to see everyone smiling, laughing, and making memories together. Given the success of our first Student Wellness Day, we hope to make this an annual tradition.
