The AtlantiCare WSCC Grant has had a tremendous impact on our school community by helping us create a healthier, more active, and more positive environment for our students. Through the use of grant funding, we have been able to increase student engagement in physical activity, recognize student achievement, and significantly improve our fitness facilities. The grant has provided opportunities that have positively influenced both the physical and emotional well-being of our students.

One successful initiative supported by the WSCC Grant was our school-wide "Biggest Loser" Competition. This program encouraged staff to focus on healthy lifestyle choices through regular physical activity, improved nutrition, and goal setting. Participants tracked their progress over 10 weeks while supporting and motivating one another throughout the competition. The program helped participants develop healthy habits that extended beyond the competition itself.

Another successful program funded through the grant was our Physical Education Student of the Month recognition program. This initiative was designed to celebrate students who consistently demonstrate positive attitudes, effort, leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to physical activity. Each month, deserving students were recognized for their achievements and contributions during physical education classes. The program has proven to be an excellent motivational tool, encouraging students to actively participate, support their peers, and strive for personal improvement. Students take pride in earning this recognition and are recognized as a group during an end-of-year celebration, where they receive a certificate and an ACIT PE t-shirt.

The most visible impact of the AtlantiCare WSCC Grant has been the transformation of our new weight room and fitness center. Grant funding allowed us to purchase additional fitness equipment that provides students with access to safe, effective, and engaging workout opportunities. New strength training equipment, cardiovascular machines, free weights, resistance training tools, and fitness accessories have significantly enhanced our physical education program and extracurricular fitness programs. The upgraded facility has become a centerpiece of our school's commitment to student wellness. Students now have access to equipment that supports a wide range of fitness goals and accommodates varying skill levels and abilities. Physical education classes are able to incorporate more diverse and individualized fitness activities, helping students develop lifelong exercise habits. The new equipment has also increased student enthusiasm for fitness training and has created opportunities for students to learn proper exercise techniques, strength development, and personal fitness planning.

The overall impact of the AtlantiCare WSCC Grant extends far beyond the equipment and programs it funded. The grant has helped create a school culture that prioritizes health, wellness, and student success. The success of these initiatives demonstrates the power of investing in student health and well-being. The AtlantiCare WSCC Grant has provided meaningful opportunities for students and staff to become more active, build confidence, improve their physical fitness, and develop healthy habits that will benefit them for years to come. We hope to continue this ongoing partnership with AtlantiCare in the future to grow our physical education, health, and sports programs, and to foster health and wellness among students and staff here at ACIT.
